HOURLY COMICS

Almost Back
02/01/2009
Garreth

This past year hasn't been a good one for comics, I guess.
Well, just for Pickle On A Stick. Other comics seem to be doing pretty ok. But the point is, sorry about that. I'll be trying to start updating regularly again, and I'll tell you when that happens, but for now what I have is sketches in my head for a short thing entitled The Misanthrope, based off of The Misanthrope, and hourly comics. I have the first few here, and the rest will be going up there as I scan them. Have a nice Hourly Comic Day.

New comic!
Yeah, so that's that. Today is a Friday, and with my oath to update Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I am doing so.
Blech, I can never write interesting or even substantial posts. How can Jerry Holkins do it day after day?
I have far to go. But please don't give up.
...Oh, right! I forgot! I submitted a comic to the Stuyvesant Spectator (a school newspaper). But I am making it available here, now.
I think that's it. Until next time.

Things Are Okay
08/27/2008
Garreth

Okay, things are okay.
I figured out a way to bypass Photosmart using the powers of MSPaint. Photoshop? Ha! Who needs it? I can mouseover each offending pixel and turn it white. (The joke is that I actually do this.)
Oh, and some (read: most) people will not quite get the new comic. Malthus was a guy, and then his ideas were warped into a debate argument. Any mention of him is funny. Heh heh, crunch.
Anyway, keep reading. Actually, why are you reading this, anyway? Stop reading and go to the new comic. Some people.

Okay, an on-time (sorta) Monday update. And the Friday one, as promised.
I'd be happy if I weren't so upset.
I apologize for the lateness and the grainy quality of these two updates. Both are the fault of Hewlett-Packard.
I hate HP because they leave out hardware in an attempt to make you buy more of their products. Because they force you to use software that literally makes me cringe in pain. Because they seem to show a blatant disregard for your interests, as when you click that they should ask you each time about the quality of the photo, as I do not want a bunch of lousy 200dpi JPEGs, and then they never ask you ever again. Because the second time you use the scanner it loses the options to do anything except "Scan & Print", and for some reason "Scan & Print" does not involve scanning. Because I believe my All-In-One Printer/Scanner/Copier is possessed by a devious and disgruntled accountant.
But anyway, two updates:
How Time Flies
I Know My Calculus
Thanks for listening and/or reading!

Delays

Garreth

Yeesh, more problems.
Okay, due to circumstances involving a wig, a dog, and a Trailways bus, I don't have a scanner.
But...one should be here Tomorrow (Saturday). After that, there be a reliable flow of comic. M/W/F, as I've always said.
UPDATE:
Okay, Sunday?
UPDATE 2.0:
Sunday update looking less and less likely. Two updates on Monday, unless I sell out and go M-T-W-F again.
UPDATE 2.1:
Blargh. I'm as unhappy as you are. Due to circumstances beyond my control, the two will be late, if at all, on Monday. If not, two Tuesday?
Darn you, HP!
UPDATE 2.2:
Nevermind!

Another day, another update. Another comic hastily constructed because I couldn't think of anything else
But still I will not resort to storylines! Never!

Apology pt. 2

Garreth

Sorry about this. I do not have access to a scanner where I am.
I'll try to get 2 comics up on Monday and pretend that I actually had one on Friday.
Again, sorry.
--Garreth
UPDATE:
I have access to a scanner once again, but right now just one comic. There should be another on Tuesday, and back on schedule on Wednesday. Sorry 'bout that.
RE-UPDATE:
The second one is up now, so to review, two comics have gone up:
Friday's comic that went up on Monday - Serious Issues, and
Monday's comic that went up on Tuesday - Soup vs. Chowder.
And another tomorrow.

Insight

Today's comic is entitled "Truly Lacanian". The joke is that it is not Lacanian at all.
What does it mean to be Lacanian, you ask? I do not know.
That is also part of the joke.

Sorry for this one going up so late.
I was distracted.

Keep A-Going

Another comic! I do not know much about Nietzche but I pretend that I do.
In other news, the comic is essentially a combination of two quotes by people that are not me. Does Copyright Law approve?

Back and Apologizing for Inconvenience

Garreth

The 3 weeks that I spent not updating were instead spent debating. As in policy debating. As in the smothering heat of Texas.
But now I am back in the city, and updating Monday, Wednesday and Friday! Tell your friends!
I also have an idea for an ambitious mini-series entitled Podium Tennis. Name stolen from Cat and Girl.
That could possibly never happen, though. In the meantime, stay tuned for minimalist semi-surreal 3-panel things that I foist upon you. Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Be there.

I Invented It
07/11/2008
Garreth

The theories contained in today's comic (which is there) were actually invented by me. I gave it great thought, and my money is on the extratime. I actually came up with a probaby faulty plan in testing it, involving transporting the entire universe back in time. And I probably have a fatal flaw in my concept of time somewhere, but don't tell me. I like imagining that I am profound.
Don't we all?

Conspiraciez

The Illuminati are once again referenced.
And they are still watching. This Mon-Wed-Fri seems to be working well. Then again, it's all working well until someone gets hurt. By shapeshifting lizard creatures.

If You Can Call It That
07/07/2008
Garreth

I believe that I have reached my peak.
As my skill is rapidly decreasing.
There's another comic up. Is it reflecting on the state of the medium? The medium itself? Or is it nonsense put together to make people think it is intelligent? And what medium, anyway?
Who can tell?

A Genuine, On-Time Update.
07/04/2008
Garreth

I mentioned before that I might update Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and whaddaya know. It's happening.
Nothing much to report, except thanks to Jon Rosenberg for directing people here. The important thing is that you keep coming back. And why not? You will find no product placement in these comics.

Good Afternoon.
07/02/2008
Garreth

My name is Garreth. And I make webcomics.
Welcome to new readers coming from Goats, and old readers (both of them) who are unaccustomed to the brand new site design. For the latest comic, click 'comic'. For old comics, hit 'archive'. For a gaping void where nothing is yet, hit 'random'. I may update Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and I may not. Who can tell? Certainly not I.
In case you want to see the guest comic I made, you can look for it at Goats or you can see it here. Also, the old site design (consisting of madness and hellfire) can be found right here.
UPDATE: I have just been informed that my work "defies explanation with a furiously upturned middle finger". How wonderful!
